Event Description

Multilingualism in an Era of Dislocation and Rapidly Evolving World

It has been an era of ‘dislocation’, a term drawn from the social science tradition ( i.e., social dislocation where there is the loss and detachment from home and culture, and essentially significant facets of identity; see Alexander, 2000).  In an era marked by unprecedented dislocation and interconnected global dynamics, the significance of multilingualism emerges as a crucial element in fostering understanding and bridging cultural gaps amidst the complexities of our rapidly evolving world. ALWC 2024 aims to create rich opportunities to share research, insights, and teaching practices with specific focus on opportunities and challenges that have been brought about by unfolding contemporary events leading to significant dislocation of various groups and populations.
