6:00 PM - 7:00 PM EST

Location: ZOOM LINK WILL BE SENT TO YOU VIA THE EMAIL YOU SUBMITTED FOR REGISTRATION

Event Description
Despite decades of research showing that no variety of English is better or worse than any other, the concept of a "correct" English and a "broken" English (aka the deficit model) continues to crop up in materials and curricula. In this webinar, the presenters will summarize the pedagogical implications of "Standard language ideology is alive and well in public speaking textbooks" (Cuba & Slocum 2020), and present practical ways to teach the difference model to English Language Learners.

This event will be hosted by our Anti-Racist Action SIG who can be reached at ara@nystesol.org

ZOOM LINK WILL BE EMAILED TO REGISTRANTS THE DAY BEFORE AND DAY OF THE EVENT.
